Annual 2015 Xmas Shoot

By Neil Harmse

Time once again for the annual SA Wingshooters/ Fausti Christmas shoot. There was a great response to the ticket sales for the raffle of a fine Fausti Conrad shotgun, supplied by Entramarc t/a Sixes and Sevens.
There were 125 guns registered to shoot in 18 teams. Everyone was trying for the highest score and also to have the lucky ticket for the Fausti shotgun !
At stand #9 everyone had to put down their guns and were only allowed to shoot with a 28 gauge Fausti and each were given a pack of 5 Hull cartridges all supplied by Entramarc. This was a great challenge as many shooters had never handled a 28 gauge shotgun, and many were impressed with its'capabilities. They found to their surprise that it is truly an underated calibre.
After all the shots were fired the teams moved to the hall for lunch and prizegiving, scores were tallied and the winning shooter was James Dunlop with the highest score. There were prizes for everyone, donated by Entramarc / Sixes and Sevens, Kuvhima ammo, Safari and Outdoor, Mike Hunt, VSD Eyewear, MSD Animal Health, Hunt Point Retrieve.Com,  SA Wingshooters, and more..
Some of the juniors excelled with excellent scores.  and then for the shotgun draw, everyone sat with bated breath as Athol shook the bottle with the numbered discs and asked Hele Polson to do the draw.. and the lucky number was......... Number 27, held by Rowland Bosse from Rynfield Benoni. He was not present and not answering his phone. When we did get hold of him on Monday he was in China. But was thrilled with the news. We will post a picture of Rowland and his shotgun when he returns to SA.
The time was now to have lunch, a really great spread ! and to socialise with members and friends. I am sure that everyone enjoyed a great day, and to finish off there was a donation of R35,000.00 to SA Wingshooter Youth Development Shooting Program, from the funds raised by Entramarc/ Sixes and Sevens, who donated the Fausti shotgun and administered the logistics of the raffle. Thanks to all involved who helped make this a great day.
